I would be pretty sure that if anyone out there were actually reading this they probably also look at the awesome site that introduced me to street fashion on the web, and that is : wardrobe_remix on Flickr.
The site is kind of what I had been searching for over the past two years since departing New York City. I currently live in a small college town that, to be fair, has its fair share of fashionistas. Yet I was still finding it hard to be inspired. For the herds of cute, daring students that roam the streets, there are equal numbers of dansko and sweat pant rockers in the crowd. I am not dogging those who choose comfort over style. I have just always wished that we could all be a bit more Paris than Nebraska.
Anyway one afternoon I was searching the web for images of Jane Birkin and her daughter Lou Doillin (above) for some ideas/ inspiration and in an image search I find this site: http://www.thevintagesociety.blogspot.com
The cute and very daring author had posted my Lou as one of her, "society girls of the week." This nod earns her street cred with me instantly. I read on. Turns out she is also a consistant and informative fashion blogster and a participant in this lovely photo pool called wardrobe_remix.
I spent weeks lurking all the girls and their outfits without any tits to post pictures myself. Obviously I got it together and began posting my outfits and I can't tell you what a nice feeling it is to hear positive feedback AND be totally inspired to dress up again! (above, below)
I should mention that little blog of mine wouldn't exist without them either. So let me say thanks for inspiring me and hopefully many others so that we can all feel a bit less Nebraska.
